Getting to and from the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Circuit

Abu Dhabi is home to an international airport and boasts many air links to destinations around the world. It is currently experiencing a US$6.8 billion redevelopment that should be completed in time for its debut into the world of Formula One. Its national carrier is Etihad Airways, who is also a race sponsor and has recently added a 50th international destination to its current list of air paths.

Once in the city, visitors have a choice of transportation facilities to make their way around. The airport sits close to Yas Island, the venue of the Grand Prix, and taxis are cheap as well as plentiful throughout the area. Some hotels will be offering a coach service on race day and there will be numerous transport options to get to Yas Island over the Grand Prix weekend.

Major car hire companies are also scattered around Abu Dhabi, with the majority concentrated at the airport’s arrivals terminal, which will inevitably offer the best deals. As part of its multi-billion dollar redevelopment programme, a heavily promoted and inexpensive bus service was launched in June 2008 and travels along the city’s major routes and to key destinations.
