Abu Dhabi is home to an international airport and boasts many direct air links to destinations around the world. The country’s national carrier is Etihad Airways, which is also a race sponsor. The airport services direct destinations from many European cities, as well as Asia.

Once in the city, visitors have a choice of transportation facilities to make their way around. The airport sits close to Yas Island, the venue of the Grand Prix, and taxis are cheap as well as plentiful throughout the area. Some hotels will be offering a coach service on race day and there will be numerous transport options to get to Yas Island over the Grand Prix weekend.

Major car hire companies are also scattered around Abu Dhabi, with the majority concentrated at the airport’s arrivals terminal, which will inevitably offer the best deals. As part of its multi-billion dollar redevelopment programme, Abu Dhabi launched in June 2008 a heavily promoted and inexpensive bus service that travels along the city’s major routes and to key destinations.
