Getting to and from the Interlagos Grand Prix Circuit

The circuit is located in the Interlagos suburb of Sao Paolo, approximately 15km (9mi) south of Sao Paolo’s city centre. The best option to travel to the circuit is by using the event shuttle buses organised by the Sao Paolo city transport company (SP Trans) that begin running on race weekend. They normally have numerous pick-up stops, primarily in the Jardins section of Sao Paolo. Check with the Grand Prix organisers or SP Trans for exact bus stops and times.

Driving yourself in Sao Paolo is not recommended for safety reasons – primarily due to car-jackings – and parking at the racing circuit is not 100 percent safe. You may make it to the race, only to lose your car! However, if you must drive, take the Marginal Pinheiros south-bound towards Interlagos from downtown Sao Paolo and then follow signs for the race track. However, taxis are an easy option, as they are cheap and plentiful – however, but try to use the red and white radio taxis, which are considered to be safer and more comfortable. The circuit is only a 10-20 minute drive away.

There are two airports that service Sao Paolo: Aeroporte Guarulhos and Sao Paolo Congonhas. Guarulhos is Sao Paolo’s major international airport and lies 25km (16mi) north east of the city. There is a half-hourly shuttle bus service from the airport into the city. Congonhas lies roughly 8km (5mi) from downtown Sao Paolo and is a much smaller airport than Guarulhos and primarily services domestic flights. There are buses connecting both airports to each other, as well as to the city.
