A guide to the Valencia Circuit - European Grand Prix
Situated in Valencia's recently-revamped marina area, the track is 5.473 kilometers in length and boasts top speeds of over 300 km/h - and average speeds of 200 km/h. The layout of this innovative track is challenging too, with 25 turns (11 left and 14 right) to test the drivers to the maximum.
This street circuit will add to those already seen in Monaco, Canada, Australia and Singapore, but will incorporate the unique scenery of this ancient city. The pit area is situated in the heart of the gentrified old Port Area, and runs through parts of the old town and revamped Marina. It follows the river Turia for part of its course, and includes a series of ‘S’ bends before entering the start straight.
There is no history on this circuit, 2008 being the first year it will be used, presenting plenty of unknowns for the teams. Apart from one long softly curving straight the course is typified by tricky corners which will require beefed up suspension and downforce from the cars.
