Getting to and from the Italian Grand Prix Circuit
The Monza racing circuit is located at the small town of its namesake, about 16km (10 miles) north-east of Milan and access to the track from Milan is easy.
By car from Milan, use the A1 and A4 motorway, turning off onto the S36 local road that leads directly to Monza. Clear signs to the track will be posted prior to race weekend. Drive time is less than 30 minutes and car rentals are easy in Milan or at either airports. There is plenty of parking at the Monza racing circuit, however, it does not come cheap and permits needs to be purchased ahead of time. Also, the narrow roads that lead to the racing circuit are notorious for backing up during race weekend, so either get there early or use public transportation to avoid traffic jams.
By train, from Milan Central Railway station to the Monza Station (or in Italian, Stazione di Monza), takes only 15 minutes. There is a free shuttle bus service from the Monza Station, to the race track's Vedano Gate. Monza can also be easily reached by train from other major Italian cities, such as Verona, Turin, Como and Florence. Weekend train schedules change significantly, so checking train timetables is very important.
For international travelers, the Malpensa airport, 40km (25mi) to the north-west of Milan, serves international flights into Italy. Access to Milan from the airport is easy, using the Malpensa Express train, which provides cheap and efficient access to the city center. There are also other shuttle buses and taxis available. From the Malpensa airport, the track is about 50km (31mi) away. There is also a second airport, Linate airport, just to the east of Milan, which serves both domestic Italian and European flights. The number 73 bus provides a direct link to Milan's city center. Linate airport is located only 20km (13mi) from the Monza racing circuit and can easily be reached by taxi.
For those without budget constraints, there is also a helicopter service to the track from Milan, which lands on the heliport inside the racing circuit.
