Getting to and from the Monaco Grand Prix Circuit
The sovereign and independent state, the Principality of Monaco, lies on the southern coast of France, with the French Riviera on the west and the Italian Riviera on the east, with the Mediterranean Sea to the south. It is a favourite summer retreat for Europeans and travel to Monaco is quite straightforward. The Monaco-Monte Carlo (SNCF) railway station is a stop for many international trains. There are numerous railway connections to all the cities on the C?te d'Azur, from Cannes to Menton. The train to Nice takes only 20 minutes.
The nearest international airport is the Nice C?te d'Azur International Airport, which is located 37kms (23mi) away from Monaco. There are buses, taxis and hire cars that provide easy access to Monaco. There are also helicopter services from the airport to Monaco, both scheduled and private, with a flight time of just 7 minutes.
Monte Carlo can be easily reached by car using the A8 motorway, which connects directly to the whole network of European motorway systems. It is easy to reach Monaco from Nice (17kms/10mi), Cannes (50kms/31mi) or even Italy (Genoa is 174km/109mi away). However, once in Monaco parking might be an issue, as space is limited. Try to have your hotel arrange parking for you before you arrive or use a rental car and return it in Monaco.
There are also inter-town buses that connect Monaco to the rest of the C?te d'Azur, as well as Italy. Shuttle buses from Nice run every 15 minutes and take about 45 minutes.
Another option is to travel by sea, since Monaco has two harbours: the Condamine (Hercule harbour) and Fontvieille. Both are equipped to handle yachts of all sizes and intercontinental liners also provide connections to Monaco and can easily anchor in the bay of Monaco.
