Getting to and from the Turkisish Grand Prix Circuit
The Istanbul Park racing circuit is located on the so-called 'Asian-side' of Istanbul, about 80km (50 mi) east of the city of Istanbul. The circuit can be accessed easily by car from the Trans European Motorway (TEM) or from two international airports: Sabiha Gökçen Airport and Atatürk International Airport.
The new circuit is located just 6km from the junction of Kurtkoy on the TEM, which links Istanbul to Ankara. From Istanbul, follow signs to the FSM (Fatih Sultan Mehmet Köprüsü) Bridge, there will be a toll area prior to the bridge and follow signs to Izmit/Ankara and then directions to Sabiha Gökçen Airport. After another toll area, turn right and follow signs to the Orhanli, keeping on the left-hand side. At the following roundabout turn right and the Istanbul Park racing circuit will be sign-posted from there.
Sabiha Gökçen Airport, named after a female combat pilot, is the newest airport to serve the Anatolian coast of Turkey and is located on the shore of Istanbul at Pendik/Kurtkoy. It is located 40km from Kadikoy, 12km from Pendik and 50km from Taksim, only 1.5km from the TEM junction. There are numerous domestic, European and international flights to this airport, including flights to Brussels, Eindhoven and Cairo. However, the main airport, Atatürk International Airport, provides the best air links to Turkey. Although public transportation may be available from the airport to the racing circuit, this information is not yet available. However, car rental is possible at the airport.
Atatürk International Airport is Turkey’s main international airport and provides ample international and pan-European links. Located 24km (15mi) west of Istanbul, the airport has good public transportation options, with direct rail and bus links. Taxis are also a good option, with rides to Istanbul city centre taking roughly 30 minutes. To drive from the airport to Istanbul, take the E5 or O-1/O-2 motorways to the city centre. Car rental and hotels are also available at the airport.
