HRT F1 Team

History in F1

HRT F1 Team, formerly known as the Hispania Racing Team and HRT-Cosworth Team, is Spain's F1 team and debuted in the 2010 season. The team began its role in F1 as Team Campos Meta, a collaboration between retired F1-driver, Adrian Campos and Enrique Rodriguez of Meta Image. In 2010, the team was acquired by Spanish businessman, Jose Ramon Carabante, who brought in capital to the struggling team. In 2011, the team was sold to Spanish investment firm, Thesan capital.

Information

The 2011 Season was not great for HRT. The season started with both drivers not qualifying and ended with eight retires. The team finished the season with zero points in second last place. The team suffered from technical difficulties, but also had two relatively inexperienced drivers, Narain Karthikeyan/Daniel Ricciardo and Vitantonio Liuzzi. Adding the more experienced Pedro de la Rosa may change the team's fortunes.

In 2011, the team used the F111 chassis, specifically developed by the Italian chassis maker, Dallara. For the 2012 Season, HRT will use the updated F112 chassis and is one of two teams continuing to use the Cosworth engine, this season CA2012.
